Yemen Al-Qaida Blamed In Failed U. S. Site Attack -- An Al-Qaida terror cell was behind a mortar strike against the U.S. embassy in Yemen that missed its target but killed a security guard and wounded 13 students at a nearby school, an Interior Ministry official said Saturday. The official, speaking on customary condition of anonymity, said al- Qaida militant Hamza al-Dayan launched three mortars at the embassy Tuesday before fleeing the scene in a vehicle with three accomplices. The mortar shells crashed into the school in the downtown Sawan district of San'a, killing the security guard and wounding 13 schoolgirls, three grievously. Link

Only last week a terror suspect was jailed in Britain for having a copy of it and told that its possession was a "serious criminal offence." But the deadly document, described as a Declaration of Jihad, is a public record in the US, after being translated from Arabic and typed up for MI5, passed to the American authorities and then declassified by the Department of Justice. Saudi Arabia 28 Al-Qaeda Militants Arrested In Kingdom -- Saudi Security forces have arrested 28 militants, who were involved in rebuilding the Al-Qaeda network in Saudi Arabia to launch another campaign of terror across the Kingdom, an Interior Ministry spokesman said in a statement. The militants had been collecting funds on the pretext of supporting the needy in Pakistan and Afghanistan — money that was, in fact, being used "to finance their criminal activities." Link
United States Navy Says Leak Posed A Threat -- The U.S. Navy would have immediately changed plans had it known that details of ship movements had been leaked to suspected terrorism supporters, a top Navy official testified Wednesday at the trial of a former Navy sailor on terrorism charges. Hassan Abu-Jihaad, 32, of Phoenix, has pleaded not guilty to federal charges alleging that he provided material support to terrorists and disclosed classified national defense information. Iraq Al-Qaeda Killing Former Sunni Allies -- Captured documents show al-Qaeda (AQI) in Iraq is killing former allies thought to be disloyal. Following the tip of a local citizen, Coalition forces found an AQI torture and execution site in Samarra, Nov. 18. Coalition forces were engaged at the site by enemy forces, resulting in 10 AQI terrorists being killed. AQI had murdered Iraqi Security Forces, Coalition Force sympathizers, and ‘Sons of Iraq’ at this site. Link
Middle East Saboteurs May Have Cut Mideast Telecom Cables -- Damage to several undersea telecom cables that caused outages across the Middle East and Asia could have been an act of sabotage, the International Telecommunication Union said on Monday. "We do not want to preempt the results of ongoing investigations, but we do not rule out that a deliberate act of sabotage caused the damage to the undersea cables over two weeks ago," the UN agency's head of development, Sami al-Murshed, told AFP. Five undersea cables were damaged in late January and early February leading to disruption to Internet and telephone services in parts of the Middle East and south Asia. Link
Denmark Muslim Youth Violence In Danish Cities Continues For 6th Night; 43 Arrested -- Groups of youths torched schools and cars in a sixth consecutive night of violence across Denmark, mostly in immigrant neighborhoods, police said Saturday. Forty-three people were arrested. The spate of vandalism started last weekend and some believe it intensified with the reproduction of a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad in Danish newspapers Wednesday. Link

Palestinian Territories Muslims Destroy YMCA, Christian Books -- In the latest attack on Christians in Gaza, 16 Palestinians forced their way into the YMCA library, stole everything but Christian books and then burned down the building. According to Palestinian terrorist sources in Gaza, the attack was carried out by Hamas and its ally, the Popular Resistance Committees. Sheik Abu Saqer, leader of Jihadia Salafiya, an Islamic outreach movement that recently announced the opening of a "military wing" to enforce Muslim law in Gaza, told WND the YMCA had Muslim children in its nursery program. India 3 Afghans Arrested At Indian Airport With Mexican Passports -- Three Afghan nationals are being held in New Delhi, India after they tried boarding a flight to France, via Kuwait, using Mexican passsports identifying themselves as: Antonio Lopez Juan (42); Javier Sanchez Alberto (20); and Atonio Lopez Ernesto (16). According to Indian press reports, the three men departed from Nedumbaserry Airport in India, on February 11, without incident. When they arrived in Kuwait, emigration officials found them suspicious because they did not speak any Spanish. They were deported back to India. Link
Spain Spanish Police Arrest Muslim Cell -- The police in the Spanish Basque region says it has rolled up a radical Muslim cell. The suspects were arrested in the northern city of Vitoria. They are thought to have distributed CDs and MP3 files in which they call for a holy war. The Spanish Minister of Interior Affairs, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, said the arrests were important because these kind of suspects can turn from shouting about violence to committing violence very quickly. Denmark Danish Papers Reprint Muhammad Cartoon -- Denmark's leading newspapers reprinted a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad today that triggered rioting in Muslim countries two years ago. The newspapers said they republished the cartoon to show their firm commitment to freedom of speech after the arrest Tuesday of three people accused of plotting to kill the man who drew the cartoon depicting the prophet wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse. Iraq Two CBS Journalists Reported Missing In Iraq -- CBS said all efforts were under way to find the journalists, who were not identified by the network. It requested "that others do not speculate on the identities of those involved" until more information was available. United States Muslim Student Threatens Former Terrorist's Life at Air Force Academy Even -- Former terrorists Walid Shoebat, Kamal Saleem and Zak Anani addressed cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, during their annual political forum. They shared their experiences as terrorists and helped cadets understand the Islamic fundamentalist mind set. During the event a Jordanian college student, identified as Omar Khalifa of Metro International, approached Kamal Saleem and spoke to him in Arabic, "you are an enemy of Islam and you must die." Iraq At Least 64 Dead In Baghdad Market Bombs -- A female suicide bomber blew herself up at the main pet market in central Baghdad, killing at least 46 people and wounding dozens in the deadliest bombing to strike the capital since 30,000 more American troops began flooding into central Iraq last spring, police said. About 20 minutes later, a second female suicide bomber struck another bird market in a predominantly Shiite area in southeastern Baghdad. Pakistan Al-Qaeda Claims Bhutto's Death -- A spokesperson for the al-Qaeda terrorist network has claimed responsibility for the death on Thursday of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto. "We terminated the most precious American asset which vowed to defeat [the] mujahadeen," Al-Qaeda’s commander and main spokesperson Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid told Adnkronos International (AKI) in a phone call from an unknown location, speaking in faltering English. Al-Yazid is the main al-Qaeda commander in Afghanistan. Link

Afghanistan Taliban "Hanged Boy, 12, for Spying for U. K." (photo) -- Taliban fighters hanged a 12-year-old boy from a mulberry tree, claiming he was passing information on Taliban roadside bomb attacks to police and British forces, Afghan police have said. The gruesome murder, which occurred in Sangin, an area held by British forces since driving out the Taliban in April, sparked outrage among politicians, who accused the al-Qaeda-linked militant group of atrocities against villagers. It was the second execution of a child attributed to the Taliban in three months. Link

United States Exposing the "Flying Imams" -- While the press may focus on the flying imams case, for American Muslims, the battle is broader. On one side are the imams represented by CAIR, the Islamic Society for North America, and the North American Imams Federation, all of which lean toward an Islamist view supporting greater interplay between religion and politics and the primacy of sectarian identity. On the other side are Muslims embracing Western secular democracy. Two Muslim men died instantly when the bomb, left in a motorcycle parked in front of the restaurant, exploded in Pattani, one of four southern provinces where more than 2,600 have been killed in nearly four years of insurgency. Iraq Official: Bride, Groom Stopped in Iraq Actually Terror Suspects -- Soldiers manning a checkpoint near Baghdad stopped a wedding convoy to find that the purported bride and groom were wanted terror suspects, an Iraqi Defense Ministry official said Monday. The soldiers became suspicious of the convoy because its members -- save the "bride" -- were all male and because one of the cars in the convoy did not heed orders to stop, the official said. Link
