United States Saddam Paid for Lawmakers' Iraq Trip -- An indictment unsealed in Detroit accuses Muthanna Al-Hanooti, a member of a Michigan nonprofit group, of arranging for three members of Congress to travel to Iraq in October 2002 at the behest of Saddam's regime. Prosecutors say Iraqi intelligence officials paid for the trip through an intermediary. The lawmakers are not named in the indictment but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. Link
United States Daily Presidential Tracking Poll -- John McCain continues to lead both potential Democratic opponents. McCain leads Barack Obama 49% to 41% and Hillary Clinton 49% to 43%. Link
United States Worsening Polls Reveal Obama's Pastor Problem -- Democrat Barack Obama suffered in the polls Thursday after a much-acclaimed speech on race that, pundits said, had failed to defuse voters' anger over rage-filled sermons by his former pastor. Waging an acrimonious battle against Hillary Clinton for the Democrats' White House nomination, Obama confessed to being bruised by the controversy surrounding his longtime Chicago preacher, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Link
United States Key Questions Still Left After Obama Speech -- The beauty of a speech is that you don't just give the answers, you provide your own questions. "Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes." So said Barack Obama, in his Philadelphia speech about his pastor, friend, mentor and spiritual adviser of 20 years, Jeremiah Wright. An interesting, if belated, admission. But the more important question is: which "controversial" remarks? Link
United States Obama Church Published Hamas Terror Manifesto -- Sen. Barack Obama's Chicago church reprinted a manifesto by Hamas that defended terrorism as legitimate resistance, refused to recognize the right of Israel to exist and compared the terror group's official charter – which calls for the murder of Jews – to America's Declaration of Independence. Link
United States Obama's Lead Over Clinton Narrows -- Democrat Barack Obama's big national lead over Hillary Clinton has all but evaporated in the U.S. presidential race, and both Democrats trail Republican John McCain, according a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday. The poll showed Obama had only a statistically insignificant lead of 47 percent to 44 percent over Clinton, down sharply from a 14 point edge he held over her in February when he was riding the tide of 10 straight victories. (The BIG NEWS is that McCain beats them both) Link
United States Judiciary Chair "Struggling" With Decision to Impeach Bush -- At a gathering of liberal activists in Washington on Tuesday, Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) was asked if he would commit to holding the Bush administration accountable once a Democrat is in the White House and illegal acts have been pinned on President Bush. "Yes, you have my word on that," Conyers replied. He then shook the questioner's hand as a sign of his commitment. Link
United States Double Life of Barack Obama -- While talking about bringing us together and deploring "divisive" actions, Senator Obama has for 20 years been a member of a church whose minister, Jeremiah Wright, has said that "God Bless America" should be replaced by "God damn America," among many other wild and even obscene denunciations of American society, including blanket racist attacks on whites. Link
United States Clinton Says "We Cannot Win" Iraq War (Al Qaeda celebrates!) -- Democrat Hillary Clinton charged on Monday the Iraq war may end up costing Americans $1 trillion and further strain the economy, as she made her case for a prompt U.S. troop pullout from a war "we cannot win." Link
United States Obama’s Church Sanitizes Website -- The 160-word section has since been deleted from the About Us page, replaced by videotaped testimonials from church members extolling the virtues of the church, including a white official from the parent United Church of Christ who said she feels welcome at predominantly black Trinity. Link
United States Brazile: "Wright One Of The More Moderate Black Preachers" -- How much trouble is Barack Obama in over the extremism of Jeremiah Wright? Enough that Dem strategist Donna Brazile has been reduced to arguing that as black preachers go, Wright is relatively moderate. Link
United States AP Covering for Obama's Pastor -- The mainstream media are completely, utterly in the tank for Barack Obama. After ignoring the Rev. Wright scandal for as long as possible, the Associated Press is now filing blatant whitewash pieces like this one, in which they don’t even tell the reader what Barack Obama’s pastor actually said: Obama decries racial rhetoric. Wright’s sermons were just “inflammatory,” in some oddly unspecific way. Link
United States ChiTrib Notes Obama Sponsored Pork To Aid Wife's Hospital -- Among the pork-barrel spending requests Barack Obama has made since arriving in the U.S. Senate is $1 million for the hospital where his wife worked at the time and $8 million for weapons technology made by a big defense contractor with close ties to a major fundraiser. Obama released on Thursday a list of all his requests for earmarked federal spending in 2005 and 2006. He already had released a list of spending requests made in 2007. In among them was a request for $1 million in federal funding in 2006 for a new pavilion at the University of Chicago Hospitals, where his wife, Michelle Obama, was a vice president. Link
United States Pelosi's Delegate Stance Boosts Obama -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says it would be damaging to the Democratic party for its leaders to buck the will of national convention delegates picked in primaries and caucuses, a declaration that gives a boost to Sen. Barack Obama. "If the votes of the superdelegates overturn what's happened in the elections, it would be harmful to the Democratic party," Pelosi said in an interview taped Friday for broadcast Sunday on ABC's "This Week." Link
United States Sen. John Kerry Confronted About Winter Soldier II -- This week, Jason caught up with the original Winter Soldier, Sen. John Kerry, and confronted him about his unsubstantiated, troop-smearing testimony. Jason also tried to get him to autograph this picture. Watch: Link
United States Barack Obama's Controversial Pastor Puts Church In Hot Water -- Barack Obama's controversial pastor and the church he's served for 36 years may be in hot water over statements he has made from the pulpit in support of the Illinois senator's run for the White House. Link
United States Voting Barack Hussein Obama -- These days no one, especially New York Senator Hillary Clinton, can deny the charismatic magnitude of Democratic front runner Barack Obama. Watching him on television one cannot help but be drawn into the passion of his presentation. His commanding voice, reminiscent of WWE superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is a welcome relief after several years of the bumbling oratory of President George W. Bush. Americans, for a variety of reasons, appreciate this man’s polished presentation whether they like his politics or not. Many are so enraptured by his presence that they are willing to swear allegiance to this elections “change” candidate while ignoring the fact that Mr. Obama really isn’t saying much of anything at all. Link
United States House Dems Refuse Immunity For Telecoms -- Locked in a standoff with the White House, House Democrats on Tuesday maintained their refusal to shield from civil lawsuits telecommunications companies that helped the government eavesdrop on their customers without a secret court's permission. But they offered the companies an olive branch: the chance to use classified government documents to defend themselves in court. Link
Canada Kissing Off Canada -- Canada has an estimated 1.6 trillion barrels of oil on its territory, much of it locked in tough-to-excavate tar sands in the province of Alberta. By comparison, oil-rich Saudi Arabia has an estimated 270 billion barrels left. It isn't even close. Yet, according to the Financial Times of London, Canada's government recently sent U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates a letter of warning that it might not be able to sell the U.S. any of its oil, which the Pentagon desperately needs for national defense. For that, you can thank the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, passed with great gusto and self-righteousness by the Democratic Congress. Link
United States Of Course Terrorists Would Rejoice At Obama Win -- Was Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King on the mark last week when he asserted Islamic terrorists would rejoice if Sen. Barack Obama becomes the next U.S. president? As a journalist and author who has conducted dozens of on-the-record interviews with Muslim terrorists, including with some of the most notorious Palestinian terror leaders, and who has documented many of those interviews in a recently released, 210-page book, "Schmoozing with Terrorists," I can answer the above question with a resounding "yes." Terrorists worldwide would indeed be emboldened by an Obama election victory not so much because of the senator's middle name – Hussein – or because of his family background, but because terrorists know many of Obama's policies would translate into victory for the global jihad movement. Obama has made clear he favors a swift American withdrawal from Iraq, direct dialogue with Iran – the largest state sponsor of terrorism – and a more "evenhanded" approach toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Link
United States Obama "Very Lucky To Be Who He Is" -- Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro, who appeared on the Democratic ticket in 1984, is the latest high-profile figure to cause a stir with comments about one of the Democratic presidential frontunners. "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," Ferraro told California's "Daily Breeze" newspaper. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept." Link
United States The House Budget's $3,000-Per-Household Tax Increase -- Despite healthy tax revenues and federal spending that tops $25,000 per household, the House Democratic majority has proposed a fiscal year (FY) 2009 federal budget that: 1. Raises taxes by $1.265 trillion over five years and $3.911 trillion over 10 years, or more than $3,135per household annually; 2. Includes 17 reserve funds that could be used to raise taxes by hundreds of billions more; 3. Increases discretionary spending by 8 percent and does not terminate a single wasteful program; and 4. Completely ignores the impending explosion of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid costs. Link
United States Obama Wins In Wyoming, Adds 7 Delegates -- Sen. Barack Obama captured the Wyoming Democratic caucuses Saturday, seizing a bit of momentum in the close, hard-fought race with rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for the party's presidential nomination. Obama generally has outperformed Clinton in caucuses, which reward organization and voter passion more than do primaries. The Illinois senator has now won 13 caucuses to Clinton's three. Link
United States Racist Remarks? You Decide. -- "I don't want to disparage anyone because of their race, their ethnicity, their name or whatever their religion their father might have been," he said. "I'll just say this: When you think about the option of a Barack Obama potentially getting elected President of the United States, I mean, what does this look like to the rest of the world? What does it look like to the world of Islam?" He continued: "I will tell you that, if he is elected president, then the radical Islamists, the al-Qaida, the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11 because they will declare victory in this War on Terror. Additionally, his middle name (Hussein) does matter," King said. "It matters because they read a meaning into that in the rest of the world. That has a special meaning to them. They will be dancing in the streets because of his middle name. They will be dancing in the streets because of who his father was and because of his posture that says: Pull out of the Middle East and pull out of this conflict." He continued: "There are implications that have to do with who he is and the position that he's taken. If he were strong on national defense and said 'I'm going to go over there and we're going to fight and we're going to win, we'll come home with a victory,' that's different. But that's not what he said. They will be dancing in the streets if he's elected president. That has a chilling aspect on how difficult it will be to ever win this Global War on Terror." Link
United States Most Liberal Senator In 2007 -- Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings. The insurgent presidential candidate shifted further to the left last year in the run-up to the primaries, after ranking as the 16th- and 10th-most-liberal during his first two years in the Senate. Link
United States The "Evolving" Barack Obama -- When a liberal politician changes his mind, particularly when he journeys to an even more liberal position, you can count on his fellow travelers in the media to refer to such a fortuitous happenstance as an "evolution." A case study of this phenomenon is to be found on the front page of today’s Boston Globe. The story promises to look into Barack Obama's changing positions on Iraq, or, as the headline puts it, "Obama stance on Iraq shows evolving view." The Globe reports. Link
United States Democrats' Battle Is A War Over Culture -- The results of March 4 proved there are also two Democratic Parties. A famous political distinction exists between "wine-track" and "beer-track" Democrats. Wine-track Democrats traditionally have supported reform-minded liberals such as Gary Hart and Paul Tsongas. Beer-track Democrats have preferred more practical-minded pols. Link
United States Report: Bush May Veto Anti-Torture Bill -- .S. President George Bush will likely veto a bill that outlaws the intense harsh interrogation of terrorist suspects, The Christian Science Monitor reported. The majority of the debate regarding CIA interrogation methods is focused on a technique called waterboarding, which prompts a feeling of drowning in the suspect, the Monitor reported. Advocates of the bill reportedly argue that it is an attempt by Congress to restore legal and moral clarity to the United State's war against terror. Link
United States Sharpton On Video: We Could Walk If Obama Doesn’t Get The Nomination -- Sharpton’s threat gives Obama potent leverage to keep from accepting a convention demotion. If his supporters start talking about third-party movements, the Democrats are finished up and down the ticket — and they know it. Link
United States The Audacity Of Silence About Tony Rezko -- Jury selection began Monday in Chicago in the trial of Syrian-born businessman Antoin "Tony" Rezko, a major supporter of Barack Obama. Two days before the 2006 elections in which Democrats won by running against a "culture of corruption," Chicago newspapers revealed that Obama purchased a home in the summer of 2005 for $1.6 million, but to complete the deal, he would need to buy an adjoining parcel for $625,000. Instead, Mrs. Rezko bought the parcel, and they closed on the properties on the same day. Rezko was already under federal investigation for kickback schemes. Link
United States Obama Feels Comfortable In His Church -- In a speech in Texas today, Barack Obama says he "feels comfortable in his church." That is his 'afro-centric, America-hating church' don't forget. That says a lot, doesn't it? I feel 'comfortable' saying Obama will not be a good choice for President of the United States. Link
United States Rezko Trial To Reveal A Real Culture Of Corruption -- With the corruption trial of one of Sen. Barack Obama’s longtime friends and supporters set to begin Monday in Chicago, Ill., reform watchdogs say it will reveal the "cesspool" of Illinois politics in which Obama came of age and has said little about in his campaign for president. "We have a sick political culture," said Jay Stewart, the executive director of the Chicago Better Government Association, "and that’s the environment that Barack Obama came from." Stewart says he does not understand why Obama has lectured others about corruption in Washington and Kenya but "has been noticeably silent on the issue of corruption here in his home state, including at this point, mostly Democratic politicians." Link
United States Obama: Muslim Call To Prayer "One Of The Prettiest Sounds On Earth" -- Kristoff from the New York Times a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset." Link
United States Name Hussein Is "The Fear Bomb" -- Michelle Obama, who often has decried "the fear bomb" that opponents have used against her husband for his middle name, Barack Hussein Obama, said in Canton, Ohio, today that it is happening again and shows why it's so important that he wins election as president. "They threw in the obvious, ultimate fear bomb," Obama said today of her husband's 2004 Senate race. "We're even hearing [that] now. … 'When all else fails, be afraid of his name, and what that could stand for, because it's different.'" The senator's wife said that rivals use innuendo to play on fears. "Just as they're saying it now." Link
United States Anti-war Fight To Continue -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pledged on Thursday to continue trying to end the Iraq war even though he lacks the votes to force a troop withdrawal. "We'll be back," said Reid, D-Nev., noting that this spring the Senate will debate whether to approve an additional $100 billion for the war. The Senate also will consider legislation to rein in contractor abuse, he said. Link
United States The Terrorist Bill of Rights: Part 2 -- Congress, with its endless squabbling with the Bush Administration over FISA, the equally endless torture law debates, and the relentless handwringing over Gitmo, has made its position clear: Pelosi and Co. are concerned, deeply concerned, with terrorists’ civil liberties. Link
United States Democrats Try Again to Tax Oil Giants -- House Democrats cited record oil prices and a surge in gasoline costs Wednesday as they pushed to impose $18 billion in new taxes on the largest oil companies. Republicans argued the industry is being unfairly singled out for higher taxes. Link
United States Barack Obama And The Muslim Call To Prayer -- On this day in 2007, Barack Hussein Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth." In an interview with The New York Times, Obama recited [the prayer], "with a first-class [Arabic] accent." Link
United States Obamanations, part 2 -- I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems...I will not weaponize space...I will slow development of future combat systems...and I will institute a "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure the quadrennial defense review is not used to justify unnecessary spending...I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons...and to seek that goal, I will not develop nuclear weapons...I will seek a global ban on the development of fissile material...and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert...and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals... United States NBC reprimands employee for using picture of bin Laden behind Obama story -- NBC News said Tuesday it has reprimanded the employee responsible for mistakenly flashing a picture of Osama bin Laden on MSNBC as Chris Matthews talked about Barack Obama. "This mistake was inexcusable," MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines said. It happened during the opening of "Hardball" Monday evening. Matthews was previewing a story on the controversy over Obama's use of another politician's words, and a picture of bin Laden briefly flashed on the screen beside him with the headline "Words About Words." Link
United States Obama's Ties To Left Come Under Scrutiny -- Senator Obama's ties to a former leader of the violent left-wing activist group the Weather Underground are drawing new scrutiny as he battles Senator Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. As an Illinois state senator in 2001, Mr. Obama accepted a $200 contribution from William Ayers, a founding member of the group that bombed the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon during the 1970s. He and Mr. Obama served together on the nine-member board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago nonprofit, for three years beginning in 1999, and they have also appeared jointly on two academic panels, one in 1997 and another in 2001. Mr. Ayers, who was never convicted in the Weather Underground bombings, is now a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Link
United States "For The First Time In My Adult Lifetime, I Am Really Proud Of My Country" -- "What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something -- for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud." Link
United States Lauer To Obama: Ready For Racist, Swiftboating Republicans? -- In an interview of Barack Obama conducted yesterday and aired on this morning's Today, Matt Lauer employed the "swiftboating" code to ask whether the candidate is prepared for the Republican onslaught. For good measure the NBC anchor wondered if Obama is ready for Republican racism. Link
United States Obama Mentor Identified As Communist -- In Obama's book, "Dreams From My Father," he repeatedly refers to his friend and adviser as "Frank." Frank Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What's more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several Communist front organizations." Link

Qatar Obama Wins Mock Election At U. S. - Islamic World Forum -- Delegates at a US-Islamic forum voiced support on Monday for US presidential hopeful Barack Obama, although some warned against expecting any radical policy change irrespective of who captures the White House. Obama, who is vying to become the first black president of the United States, won overwhelming support in a mock election by more than 200 American and Muslim delegates at the US-Islamic World Forum in the Qatari capital. Link
United States Why Torts Trumped Terrorism -- A closed-door caucus of House Democrats last Wednesday took a risky political course. By 4 to 1, they instructed Speaker Nancy Pelosi to call President Bush's bluff on extending the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to continue eavesdropping on suspected foreign terrorists. Rather than passing the bill with a minority of the House's Democratic majority, Pelosi obeyed her caucus and left town for a week-long recess without renewing the government's eroding intelligence capability. Link
United States So Many Questions, So Few Answers -- So many questions about Presidential candidate Barack Obama and so few answers. The main problem I see is that the truth will be revealed to voters too late -- after the election. I fear that the buyers remorse will be huge, but it doesn't matter, the damage will be done. Obama will be president and we will be forced to suffer the consequences when the pretty balloon bursts and there's nothing but empty air left to fill the void. Link
United States Is Barack Obama Orchestrating Fake Fainting Spells At Campaign Stops? -- It certainly seems like that could be the case. At five different campaign stops on five different dates someone near the stage at an Obama rally faints, and Obama notices each time and reacts in basically the same way. Here’s some audio/video proof: Link
United States Barack Obama's Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote -- A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. United States Nicaraguan Leader Calls Obama's Campaign "Revolutionary" -- President Daniel Ortega, who led the 1979 revolution in Nicaragua, says Barack Obama's presidential bid is a "revolutionary" phenomenon in the United States. "It's not to say that there is already a revolution under way in the U.S. ... but yes, they are laying the foundations for a revolutionary change." Link
United States Democrats Fear Superdelegates Could Overrule Voters -- Some Democrats say they fear their party's method of picking a nominee might turn undemocratic as neither presidential candidate is likely to gather the delegates needed for the nomination. Party rules call for the votes of superdelegates -- 800 or so party officers, elected officials and activists -- to tip the balance. The party instituted the system to avoid the turmoil that a deadlocked race would create at a convention. Link
United States Obama As Diplomat In Chief -- A central element of Barack Obama's plan to change American foreign policy is his intention, upon becoming president, to meet with foreign leaders of extremist regimes -- the type of rogue-state dictators that George W. Bush has generally shunned during his time as president. Applied categorically, this would be a bad idea. Link
United States Barack Obama Positions Himself As Jimmy Carter, Part Two -- A foreign policy adviser to Senator Obama is scheduled to arrive in Syria today as the leader of a RAND Corp. delegation. Zbigniew Brzezinski will travel to Damascus for meetings as part of a trip Syria's official Cham News agency described as an "important sign that the end of official dialogue between Washington and Damascus has not prevented dialogue with important American intellectuals and politicians." It's also a sign that Barack Obama is following in Jimmy Carter's footsteps. Brzezinski, of course, was Carter's National Security Adviser. Link
United States Obama Puts His "Patriot Corporation" Aims Into Practice -- I don’t know what Tesco did or didn’t promise, but businesses don’t exist to "serve underserved communities." They exist to make money. Democrats and especially people like Obama who have never worked in private enterprise just don’t seem to get that. Link
United States Obama Criticizes Prosecution Of 6 Detainees -- The Pentagon's plans for death-penalty prosecutions of six men accused of plotting the 2001 terrorist attacks were criticized by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, who said capital punishment is appropriate for such crimes but that military tribunals are the wrong forum for the case. United States Lone Star Times Identifies Obama’s Che Moonbat -- Our Monday post highlighting a Cuban flag with the super-imposed face of psychotic Marxist Che Guevara hanging in Barack Obama’s Houston HQ’s has caused quite a kerfuffle, which we are happy to inflame further with today’s update. The flag (and the woman in the video) look like the same one that is flown by Maria Isabel, the leader of SWPO - the group that fought Old Sixth Ward residents on their historic preservation efforts. United States Elect Me And I’ll Lose The War AND Raise Your Taxes! (Video) -- Barack Obama is speaking to a packed auditorium in Wisconsin right now. He speaks with passion, but if most Americans tune in enough to hear what he actually says, he’s a weak candidate. Much weaker than I thought. Now he’s talking about joining the Peace Corps or learning a foreign language to create the America "we dreamed of." Why don’t liberals tout opening a business or joining the military? If you’re watching this, chime in with your reaction to this speech. He’s not disguising his hard leftism anymore. Link

Indonesia Islam's Battle For The White House -- An Obama victory in the U. S. presidential elections will be disastrous for the war on terrorism and the mere prospects of that becoming a reality have already begun to raise red flags here in Southeast Asia. To say that Obama is popular among Muslims in Southeast Asia would be an understatement. Almost all Indonesians see Barack Hussein Obama as one of their brethren. His childhood in Indonesia, his Muslim heritage, his Muslim name, his black hair and brown eyes, his opposition to the War in Iraq and his sympathy towards the cause of Muslims around the world convinces Indonesians that Obama is one of their own. For Indonesians it is simple, if he walks like a Muslim and talks like a Muslim, then he is a Muslim. Link
United States Why Does Obama's Pastor Matter? -- Barack Obama, in a way that recalls John F. Kennedy, a politician to whom he's frequently compared, has carefully controlled and burnished his image to create the impression of an independent figure, free from dogma and ideological entanglements. But there is one man who threatens to undermine Obama's appealing narrative as a man above the ugly quarrels and divisive partisanship of the past: his longtime pastor and spiritual adviser, Rev. United States Obama Is The Most Pro-Abortion Candidate Ever -- He is so pro-abortion that he refused as an Illinois state senator to support legislation to protect babies who survived late-term abortions because he did not want to concede -- as he explained in a cold-blooded speech on the Illinois Senate floor -- that these babies, fully outside their mothers' wombs, with their hearts beating and lungs heaving, were in fact "persons." United States Obama '04 At Odds With Obama '08 -- Videotapes of debates and speeches that were obtained by The Washington Times show that Mr. Obama took positions during his Senate campaign on nearly a half-dozen issues ranging from the Cuba embargo to health care for illegal aliens that conflict with statements that he has made during his run for the White House. For example, in MSNBC's Oct. 30 presidential debate, Mr. Obama hesitantly raised his hand and joined with most of his Democratic rivals to declare he opposed decriminalizing marijuana. Link
United States Obama: Most Liberal Senator In 2007 -- Sen. United States DNC Appoints Islamist to Convention Committee -- Pakistan-born Iman Malik Mujahid, founder and president of Chicago-based Islamic teaching materials distributor Sound Vision Foundation, was named to the credentials committee, which coordinates selection of convention delegates and alternates. Mujahid (a name which means “holy warrior) and his operation Sound Vision will be familiar to longtime LGF readers, because about a year after the 9/11 attacks we discovered the bulletin board they used to run—a center of support for terrorism, jihad ideology, suicide bombing, and snuff films. United States Obama’s Muslim Summit -- if Barack Obama becomes President, he’ll hold a summit with all leaders of Muslim countries: "Once I’m elected, I want to organize a summit in the Muslim world, with all the heads of state, to have an honest discussion about ways to bridge the gap that grows every day between Muslims and the West." United States More On The Gitmo Lawyers' Shady Wahhabist Backers -- The liberal advocacy outfit called the Center for Constitutional Rights is representing several of the Gitmo detainees (such as Majid Khan) in court. Not only are they representing lawyers, but they are also coordinating all the legal representation for most of the detainees, more than 500 pro-bono lawyers. The CCR's funding statement revealed an interesting detail. The International Institute for Islamic Thought, the IIIT, was a major donor to the CCR's work. The IIIT was raided in 2002 by Federal agents as part of a terror-funding investigation. Link
United States Obama Aide Wants Talks With Terrorists -- While officials here largely maintain a policy against interfering in U.S. election politics, some Israeli security officials quietly expressed "concern" about an adviser to Sen. Barack Obama who has advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the terrorist group. Link
United States Obama To Bring Hope, Change To Iraq By Abandoning It Immediately -- On tap for Iraq? An abject abandonment of Iraq dressed up as some virtuous form of "benign neglect." Link
United States The Democrats' Southern Strategy -- Pay no attention to the exit polls. That seemed to be the furtive message of the Obama campaign, following its Saturday night landslide victory in the South Carolina primary. As the dapper Obama was delivering the high-minded rhetoric that has become a stump staple – and as his supporters defiantly proclaimed that “Race doesn't matter!” – the cold data told a less wholesome story. Link
United States Ted Kennedy Endorsing Obama -- Senator Edward M. Kennedy will endorse Barack Obama for president tomorrow, breaking his year-long neutrality to send a powerful signal of where the legendary Massachusetts Democrat sees the party going -- and who he thinks is best to lead it. Kennedy confidantes told the Globe today that the Bay State's senior senator will appear with Obama and Kennedy's niece, Caroline Kennedy, at a morning rally at American University in Washington tomorrow to announce his support. However, Caroline Glick finds serious fault with Obama over his association with the enemies of Israel and his support for Islamists seeking to take control of a state allied with the U.S. Link
United States Democrats Attack Iraq Security Proposal -- The leading Democratic presidential candidates and their allies on Capitol Hill have launched fierce attacks in recent days on a White House plan to forge a new, long-term security agreement with the Iraqi government, complaining that the administration is trying to lock in a lasting U.S. military presence in Iraq before the next president takes office. United States Barack Obama's Middle East Expert -- Barack Obama's real thinking about Israel and the Middle East continues to be an enigma. The words he chose in an address to AIPAC create a different impression than the composition of his foreign policy advisory team. Several advisors have evidenced a history of suspicion and worse toward Israel. One of his advisors in particular, Robert Malley, clearly warrants attention, as does the reasoning that led him to being chosen by Barack Obama. Link
