In March, 2007, the political left had one of
their countless "peace demonstrations" at which the
demonstrators engaged in numerous actions that violated the
sensibilities of ordinary people and damaged the very cause the
activists claimed to endorse.
The protesters showed their support for "peace" by burning "Old
Glory" and the effigy of a U. S. soldier -- and then
knocking a police officer off his motorcycle -- an action that
brought out the police riot squad.
However, the most disturbing scene of the afternoon, involved a
young American who pulled down his pants in front of women and
children and defecated on the burning flag. This
disgusting act actually elicited support from the members of the
crowd, who can be seen cheering and applauding in the
background.
This is what comes from teaching multiculturism instead of
American history, self-esteem instead of discipline and
disrespect for America and its values. These kids didn't
make this stuff up -- they were taught -- which, in turn,
reminded me of Lt. Cable's poignant song in "South Pacific":
You’ve got to be taught to hate and fear,
You’ve got to be taught from year to year,
It’s got to be drummed in your dear little ear—
You’ve got to be carefully taught
Portland's parents and teachers should be proud of the wonderful
job they did in preparing these youngsters for life.
I'd also like to see this fool try that in Fidel's Cuba,
Chavez's Venezuela, or Ahmadinejad's
Iran.
Many would say that this behavior is an aberration --
unfortunately it's standard operating procedure of the
hate-America-first left.
