Should Islam Be Blamed For "Barbaric" Acts? -- Al-Jazeera television on March 9 apologized to viewers after a talk-show guest, Syrian-American psychologist Dr Wafa Sultan, described as "barbaric" the response of Muslims to a Danish newspaper's cartoons about the Prophet Mohammed. "The Muslims' barbaric reaction added to the value of these cartoons. It simply proved their rightness," said Dr Sultan on the Qatari network. "The Muslim is an irrational creature, and the things he learned overpower his mind and inflame his feelings. That is why these remarks have turned him into an inferior creature, who cannot control himself and respond to events in a rational way." |

Why Should They Be Here? -- All these people living in Denmark with a foreign background, they should have a choice. They should choose whether they wish to be part of the Danish community, with all the norms and rules that we have in Danish society, or whether in fact they would prefer to be another place. And this is a message to all of those who support Hizb ut-Tahrir: If they have so much against our way of life and all the freedom we have in Denmark, then it might be a good idea to be in another place; but this is also an offer to those who never really fit in right, who maybe came here in the ’70s, and are actually not that happy about Denmark and would rather go home. |

"Scholars" Demand Laws Criminalizing "Insults" To Islam -- The re-publication of the Prophet cartoons by seventeen Danish newspapers last week was denounced by Muslims the world over. The controversy is not one of press freedom, but rather it feeds cycles of hatred and ignorance which only increase the gulfs between religions, according to the Prime Minister, Dr. Ali Mohammed Mujawr, in a support meeting organized by the Al-Eman University last Monday calling for defending the Prophet Mohammed. |

Riots in Denmark! Muslim Youths Go On Torching Rampage -- Six youths were arrested in Copenhagen for setting cars and dumpsters ablaze and throwing stones at police in a fifth night of riots in a predominantly immigrant area of the Danish capital. "We've had six arrests so far. They've been charged with throwing stones at police and setting fires to cars and waste containers," Chief Inspector Henrik Olesen told AFP. "We don't know why they're rioting. I think it's because they're bored. Some people say it's because of the cartoons but that's not my opinion."

Danish Papers Reprint Muhammad Cartoon -- Denmark's leading newspapers reprinted a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad today that triggered rioting in Muslim countries two years ago. The newspapers said they republished the cartoon to show their firm commitment to freedom of speech after the arrest Tuesday of three people accused of plotting to kill the man who drew the cartoon depicting the prophet wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse. |

3 Arrests In Cartoonist Plot -- Danish authorities on Tuesday arrested three people suspected of plotting a cartoonist's assassination for his depiction of the Prophet Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban that enraged Muslims two years ago. Three of Denmark's largest newspapers said they would reprint the cartoon on Wednesday to show they would not be intimidated by fanatics. It was one of 12 Muhammad cartoons published in 2005 and then again in 2006 that led to protests in Muslim countries. Investigators said they foiled the plot in its early stages in a pre- dawn raid in the western Denmark city of Aarhus. The police intelligence agency, PET, said two Tunisians and a Danish citizen of Moroccan origin were arrested. |

U. N. Human Rights Council Boycotts Denmark -- When Anne Bayefsky participated in the 2001 UN Conference on Racism in Durban she and many others were shocked. The conference touched on neither the situation for women and minorities in Arab countries nor the massacres in Congo or Durban — or any of the other catastrophes in the world. No, most of it was about how Israel treated the Palestinians, and the conference adopted a slew of resolutions against Israel and the USA. The two of them left the conference in protest while the delegates from all European countries and NGO’s — Danes included — stayed and put a good face on it. |
